Female Infertility Causes

data

According to studies out of every six couples, one of them is facing problems of infertility and here you shall have a look at female infertility causes. The age at which a woman is conceiving is one of the prime factors of success of pregnancy but there are other factors that often lead to infertility. Ovulation process disruption, physical damage to various organs like the Fallopian tube are some of the common reasons and each of them are discussed below.

Disorders that lead to problems in ovulation

There are several disorders due to which women fail to ovulate or undergo infrequent ovulation. These disorders are the reason behind many infertility cases. According to a research one out of every four infertile couples have ovulation disorder as their root cause. PCOS or polycystic ovary syndrome is one of the main such disorders that is affecting almost all women nowadays. This disorder is related to obesity and insulin resistance in the body. A hypothalamic dysfunction is another of the common causes of infertility in women. Ovulation occurs due to two main hormones and they are LH and FSH. Sometimes emotional stress or a sudden change in body weight can alter the secretion of these hormones and thus affect ovulation. Some women also suffer from primary ovarian insufficiency in which there is a premature loss of eggs. An excess release of prolactin may also hamper the ovulation in women and thus render them infertile.

Blockage of various organs

Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a condition in which there is an abnormal growth of tissues in different locations of the uterus. Sometimes these uterus problems can be the major cause of female infertility. A surgery is done to remove these tissues and this results in scarring of those regions. These scars sometimes lead to a blockage in the Fallopian tubes. They also hamper the implantation process in the uterus.

Blocked or damages Fallopian tubes

Fallopian tubes are no doubt of crucial importance and any harm to them can lead to infertility. When they are damaged, the sperms are not able to fertilize the egg and nor is the embryo able to reach the uterus even if fertilization occurs somehow. There are several reasons due to which Fallopian tubes might get blocked or damaged. One of the common reasons is a pelvic inflammatory disease. Previous surgeries can also affect the Fallopian tubes especially the surgeries done in cases of ectopic pregnancy. Pelvic tuberculosis is another of the reasons of blocked Fallopian tubes.

Problems in the uterus or cervix

Fertility is impacted by various problems of the uterus and cervix. Sometimes benign tumors or polyps occurs in the uterus. These polyps often lead to inability to become pregnant. Some birth defects of the uterus can also lead to infertility like the abnormal shape of the uterus. Some women also suffer from a condition called cervical stenosis in which the cervix gradually becomes narrowed.

Unexplained Reasons

Apart from the above mentioned causes, some women also suffer from an unexplained infertility. This mostly happens due to changing of environment or other environmental factors and also due to mental stress, depression and anxiety.
