Complexity Of Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a painful disorder where tissue grows outside the lining of the uterus. This tissue will be similar to the one that lines inside the uterus. Usually, endometriosis appears in the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and the lining of the uterus. Hardly this would go beyond the pelvic area or organs.

The endometrial tissue will be thick, breaks down and bleeds with each menstrual cycle. Endometriosis can cause severe pain, excessive bleeding, pain during intercourse, pain with bowel movements or urination, and infertility. Risks of endometriosis

Infertility - women with milder forms of endometriosis, will be able to conceive a baby, whereas, for severe conditions of endometriosis, there will be trouble in getting pregnant. Medications cannot always improve fertility, but surgical removal of endometrial tissue can improve the chances of getting pregnant. Pelvic pain and infection - the pain on and near the pelvic area will be debilitating. The pelvic pain would extend for several days and would cause pain in the lower back and abdomen. It would be gradually lead to pelvic infections that cause throbbing pain.
Ovarian cysts - at times, pieces of the tissue that lines outside the womb could lead to blood-filled cysts causing ovarian cysts.
Adhesions - endometriosis causes inflammation and is considered to be a critical factor in the formation of adhesions. Thus, adhesions are formed as a result of endometrial implants bleeding in the area around them, which causes inflammation and leads to the formation of scar tissue.
Bladder or bowel problems - the cells that form outside the womb will react in the same way as it would while in the womb, causing blood trapped in the organs. This trapped blood leads to pain while it gets inflamed. The bowel will be affected more than the bladder, and it would be painful while urinating. Diarrhea or constipation plus an uncomfortable bloating would occur when the bowel is affected.

Endometriosis is considered to be a chronic condition. Hence, the doctor would perform a proper diagnosis, and the appropriate treatment will be recommended. Medications, hormonal contraceptives, laparoscopy, and hysterectomy are the usual treatment options suggested by the doctor.
